Waterloo understands that practical learning goes hand in hand with the classroom, and beyond. The university is home to Canada’s first co-op learning program which now has over 6,300 employers working with the school to give students accurate views at as many careers as possible. The co-op program has helped to foster top companies and start-ups like BlackBerry, Vidyard, and Pebble.

The engineering and technology schools are ranked 57th in the world in the QS World University Rankings by Subject and alumni go on to work at companies like BlackBerry (founded by a Waterloo alum), Apple, Ernst & Young, and Google.
Waterloo graduated over 1,700 Master’s degrees in 2014 and 89% of co-op graduates go on to work in the field where they earned their degree. While graduate job placement for the university is excellent, Waterloo also prides itself in its research programs and degrees. With over $200 million in funding from both local and international partners – 31% of funding comes from industry partnerships – the school has been able to push the envelope in innovation in the STEM fields, health sciences, and the arts.
