English Language course

English Language course is very important for the international student to complete in order to accommodate easily in the foreign environment, with foreign people and understand academic functionalities. English language courses cover beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of speaking, reading and writing in English, including grammar and literature skills. Generally UK English Schools and Universities provide seven types of English Language courses:

  • General English
  • Intensive English
  • Academic English
  • Junior English courses
  • IELTS Preparation Course
  • Pre-sessional English
  • Business English

General English:

General and intensive English are basic level language courses. This course is most suitable for anyone 16 or above who is interested in improving their general English language skills. General English courses will develop the practical communication skills in speaking and writing as well as reading and listening and, of course, the fluency and grammatical accuracy of the learner.

Intensive English:

Intensive English courses are full time as standard, usually between 22 and 30 hours per week of English study in a classroom environment. These programs practice the skills and language needed specifically for that area; examples are English for law, medicine or aviation.

Academic English:

English for Academic Purposes is designed for students planning to begin tertiary studies. It introduces students to academic study skills. In this course you’ll earn the quality of understanding and maintaining all your academic needs and requirements successfully. Academic English usually conveys some extra knowledge like literary terms, vocabulary, phrase, complex grammar etc. That’s not covered by other English courses. You’ll also be an expert in creating standard academic essay and doing well presentations by this courses.

Junior English courses:

Junior English courses designed for younger students which are run in winter from January to February and then in summer from late June to the end of August. Perfect for improving your English, making friends and having fun. Bespoke junior group courses year round – call for more details. The popularity of Junior English programmes for young learners between the ages of 8-18 is on the rise as more parents see the benefits of a child learning English whilst embracing new cultures and countries for the first time.

Many Junior English courses take place over the summer, allowing children to make the most of a nicer climate, meaning more trips, outside teaching and a much warmer atmosphere than studying in the winter. Once you decide to enroll your child on a course and the school have offered you a place, the language school will generally take care of everything to ensure a stress free transition.

IELTS Exam Preparation Course:

IELTS is the International English Language Testing System, the world’s proven English language test. IELTS was one of the pioneers of four skills English language testing over 17 years ago, and continues to set the standard for English language testing today. All candidates are tested in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. All candidates take the same Listening and speaking modules. The choice of Reading and Writing modules is determined by the purpose for taking IELTS. The Academic Reading and Writing modules are suitable for those seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

General Training Reading and Writing modules are suitable for candidates who are going to English-speaking countries to complete their secondary education or to undertake work experience or training programmes not at degree level. The General Training modules are also used for immigration purposes.

Pre-sessional English:

Pre-sessional English course is a program that’s arranged for the students whose first language isn’t English. This course is an academic English language and study skills programmer. If you do not have the required English language level, you may wish to attend a pre-sessional English language course. The Pre-sessional English language course is available for undergraduate and postgraduate students. The courses vary in length depending on students’ current level of English. Students on the course will aim for an overall UKVI IELTS equivalent score of 6 (undergraduate) or 6.5 (postgraduate).

Business English:

Business English is the type of English used in business contexts, such as international trade, commerce, finance, insurance, banking, and many office settings. It entails expectations of clarity, particular vocabulary, and grammatical structures. Here’s a quick review of some of the features of professional business communication.

Students have to be at least 16 years old to start the English Language course. At least 10 years of mandatory academic qualifications required.

The English Language requirements depend on the students and countries. Some students may need 4.0 in IELTS, some may not.
